Like the manga, Morumo is from outer space (the title is "Space Girl Morumo"), and right away it gets pretty funny,
with the narrator talking about how the dad's just a normal dad, and the mom's just a normal mom (at which point the mom
protests to the narrator, until it's added that she's sweet and pretty too!) and you meet the family (including the younger
sister). At this point, it shows a flashback scene of how things came to be: 17 years ago, the "mom" and "dad" of today
were out on a date outside looking at the stars (secretly being watched by a young Dr. Motokura -- who also has a crush on
the mom). "Dad" wants to ask "Mom" to marry him, but the mom points out a shooting star (a meteor) -- and just as dad's
about to pop the question, the meteor comes and interrupts him. Inside the meteor is baby Morumo, and as they see the baby,
they decide to adopt her as their own, and the dad asks the mom to marry him (the mom agrees). Flash forward 17 years later
to the present, and you see Morumo, a nice sweet girl, except she's super strong (causing problems) and grows giant when
she gets excited or startled. Morumo wishes she could just be a normal girl, and after an almost-growing scare (when a
flying hankerchief startles her), Mom suggests they all go to Tokyo to visit Dr. Toudai Motokura, who she explains is now
a genius professor (the joke is that his first name of "Toudai" is also the name of Japan's most prestigious university).
Dad complains he has work, and Morumo apologizes saying "sorry, everyone..." but mom says "don't worry, leave it to me,"
and they all head to Tokyo. On screen it says "So -- Tokyo", and at this point they're on the street, trying to find where
Professor Motokura's office is (when Morumo lifts up a truck a few times), as the family has to keep Morumo's strength a
secret from the curious policeman and everyone else.

   Leaving the policeman behind, they find Professor Motokura's place and introduce themselves to the professor, as well
as the professor's mom and younger Mitsuru. The professor says "Leave everything to me" (I'll help Morumo out), and after
listening secretly at the door, Mitsuru and granny come in, asking if Morumo's really an alien. Morumo smiles saying
something like she can't believe it either because she's so cute, but as the professor startles her with some equpiment,
she grows giant while her clothes rip. "Please help. I just want to be a normal girl!" Morumo tells the professor, so he
goes to work on finding a cure. Mom's worried about the finances staying where they are, especially as Morumo's strength
causes her to damage the floor.

   Since she's now living in Tokyo, Morumo winds up going to high school, and walks to school with Mitsuru. The kids hate
their teacher, and I can't understand everything that's being said here, but basically the teachers and principal are
plotting against their own school and students. Meanwhile back at home, Mom has a "Jobs available" magazine open trying
to get dad to go get a job, but he doesn't like the ones listed (including one for being a stuntman). Dad goes to check in
on the professor, who is counting down the seconds -- but it turns out just to be his lunch that's now ready (yakisoba).
At school, Morumo has her own (giant) lunch to eat.

   Out on the field, Morumo spots a handsome guy and asks her fellow girl classmates who he is. He's the captain of the
soccer team, and Morumo says "Ah, he's just my type!" (to which the other girls agree). When the soccer ball comes over
to where they are, Morumo pushes the other girls aside so she can kick the ball back to him -- except she's super strong,
and winds up hitting guys on the judo team. When one comes over to do a judo move on Morumo, Morumo easily takes care of
him by accident (she sends him into a tree). Mitsuru comes over, and Morumo says "Oops, I guess that was a little too
much..." to which Mitsuru whacks her on the head. Then Morumo sees an insect and gets startled. Knowing she's about to
grow, Mitsuru grabs her and heads with her towards the gym so that hopefully no one will see her grow. They make it into
the gym before she grows giant again, but their suspicious homeroom teacher comes in, so Mitsuru must distract her (while
a giant Morumo is right there behind her in the gym).

   The professor presents Morumo with a liquid to drink in his lab... doing so shrinks a large Morumo down to normal size,
so it seems to work. But the mom comes in to ask the professor directions, and the professor (who's always had a crush on
the mom) unknowingly erases the formula to the liquid on the blackboard so that he can write out directions.

   Back at school a representative from the judo team now wants to see the "new transfer student" (Morumo). They want her
to do a judo match because of how she showed them up before. Morumo says "Don't worry, leave it to me!" and she joins the
judo club, winning easily against each opponent. The school staff aren't happy, because they want the school to fail.

   Next the handsome captain of the soccer club comes over while Morumo is talking to her girl classmates, and wants to
take Morumo out. The other girls says "Us too!" but the captain tells them "This has nothing to do with you," and Morumo
gladly accepts, so happy to be asked out on her first date. Eating dinner with her family at home, the dad says "What? A
date?" The mom: "Could it be.. with a guy?" Morumo: "The soccer club captain. He's so cool!" Younger sister: "Really?"
Mom and dad are really happy.

   Next the professor comes in to say he has developed a "Power Control System" for Morumo that will make her normal
instead of being so strong. A few minutes later and Morumo comes out in a bathing suit (the sister says: "What does a
bathing suit have to do with a power control system?!") The professor puts two suction cups on Morumo, and turns the
power on. Morumo doesn't feel any different, so the sister gives Morumo a metal pipe. Mourmo tries to bend it -- but
can't! The professor then turns off the power, at which point Morumo can easily bend the pipe. Everyone's incredibly
happy. Morumo kisses the professor on the cheek... the younger sister does... and the mom is about to before dad
prevents her ("Not you!") to which the professor (who's always had a crush on the mom) says "Cheapskate..." However
there's one problem -- the professor then shows everyone the size of the battery needed to power the unit!

   Morumo goes out for a nice walk with her sister that night, and they run into one of the judo team members. At home,
mom and dad are happy for Morumo that she'll be going out on a date, and might soon be able to become a normal girl like
she's always wanted. Dad starts feeling romantic, but mom opens up the job listings, and wants dad to go apply for a job.
Back outside, Morumo and her sister come across two thugs beating up the judo club students -- but the useless policeman
from before is no help, for anytime the policeman looks at the thugs, they suddenly pretend that THEY are the ones being
beaten up by the students. Morumo protests, having seen that it was the thugs who beat up the students, but in the end
the damage is done, and the students are beaten up. 

   After talking about the incident in class, Morumo sees Mitsuru outside and tells him she's on her way to her date
with the soccer captain. Mitsuru is in a daze. Some girl classmates come up and ask him "What's wrong, Mitsuru?" So he
fakes a stomachache in order to run off and follow Morumo (to both make sure everything's ok, and also because he's
starting to like her). He sits down in the same restaurant, as Morumo and the captain talk. But it soon turns out that
the captain is only interested in her abilities. Disappointed, Morumo says "So.. this isn't a date." Captain: "Date?!
Me and you?!" and starts laughing. He continues, laughing at the notion of a date between the two of them, so Mitsuru
stands up and throws water in his face, telling Morumo "Let's go." Morumo agrees -- but not before ripping the captain's
briefcase in half (the stupid captain as he sits down: "That was mean!")

   At home the dad's about to go off to his job interview, and says he'll do his best. At school, the teachers and staff
are still scheming. Meanwhile at some swings, Mitsuru asks Morumo "You want to go out on a date with me?" Morumo smiles
and accepts ("Then let's go for ice-cream!") Dad is at the address for his supposed job interview, but the people he
sees coming out don't look normal (it's a yakuza [Japanese mafia] headquarters), and once inside he decides to leave
after seeing the head boss. Meanwhile students are being beaten up by thugs while Morumo is inside eating lots (LOTS) of
ice-cream -- much to Mitsuru's dismay (it's going to be expensive!) Finally Morumo finishes: "Ah, that was good. So...
what do you want to eat next?" Mitsuru: "Huh?" Morumo: "I can't?" Mitsuru: "N-No, you can, but..." -- and then he suddenly
remembers he's supposed to be at school, and runs off. The owner of the restaurant follows him, demanding payment
(running, Mitsuru says he'll take care of it later) and Morumo follows.

   At school, Mitsuru and Morumo hear from a classmate that a whole bunch of kids (including the captain of the rugby
team that Mitsuru's on) were beaten up and it's a bad situation, as they go to the hospital to see some of them. Walking
together afterwards, Mitsuru is disappointed. At home, mom is mad at dad for walking out on the job interview (he says
the boss there had a terrible face -- and makes a face -- to which the mom says "Huh? That's cute!") Mom's mad that
they're not going to have any money, and tempers begin to flare. Seeing this, Morumo pops her head in and says "Stop!
Mom, dad, don't fight because of me! I'll.. go off on my own.." and leaves. They yell at her to wait, and everyone chases
after her. They ask the same useless policeman for help, but Mitsuru looking by himself finds Morumo, and the two talk.
Morumo says she's always causing trouble for everyone, and sighs, wondering what she should do since she's not a normal
girl. She doesn't want to be an alien, she just wants to be a normal girl. But suddenly a soccer ball goes in the street,
and a young boy chases after it -- right into the path of an oncoming truck. Morumo runs into the street to stop the
truck, and saves the boy's life. Feeling better, Morumo realizes she was able to save his life (because she's different),
and Mitsuru agrees -- and he says besides, if she were to go away, he'd be lonely. Happy, Morumo smiles and says
"Mitsuru-kun..." The rest of the family finally find Morumo, and dad yells "Idoit!" (slapping her -- hurting his hand),
"Everyone was so worried about you!" They all love her, and don't ever want her to do something like that again (Morumo
even tells Mitsuru that he's not alone either). 

   It's the day for the big rugby match, but of course just about all the students are in the hospital because of the
thugs. But Morumo joins Mitsuru, and the two of them want the match to proceed -- with just the two of them being the
entire team. The opposing team laughs and starts to walk away, but Morumo asks why they're running away -- so the game
gets started. Of course with Morumo's abilities, it's no contest, and the heroes win the match, as the teachers and staff
are horribly shocked and disappointed. I can't understand everything in this part, but the teachers and staff were in
cahoots with the yakuza, and wanted their own school to lose. When the match is over, everyone recognizes the thugs and
chases after them with some help from Morumo. Soon the thugs get their due, and the teachers (after being unable to
escape) hit the ground and apologize. "Yay!" Morumo cheers.

   Everyone now is toasting their victory, but Morumo says "Sorry.. I'm going to quit rugby." One of the girls asks
"Why?" and Morumo replies "Because I'm not a normal girl." The mother smiles, and the professor comes into the room
proclaiming he has something for Morumo to take. Morumo: "Uh.." Professor: "Believe in me." So Morumo drinks it. She
seems to feel the same. So the Professor then tries to startle her by screaming to see if she'll grow. "She'll become
big!" the dad yells. "Become big?" the students ask, not understanding -- but to the family's surprise, she remains
normal. "Professor?" Morumo asks. "You're a normal girl now," he replies. Morumo is so happy! The dad picks up a glass
and says "Let's have a toast!" The mom says "Let's toast to Morumo becoming a normal girl, thanks to Professor Motokura!"
But suddenly a spider appears, and Morumo shrieks. "Don't worry, don't worry..." the Professor says -- but before you
know it, Morumo's clothes are ripping, and she's growing into a giant again (ripping off some curtains to use to cover
herself, as the other students stare up in amazement). Oh well! And everyone smiles...
